Yeshe Dawa used to be called Yungbey. He and his brother, Yeshe Nyima (also in 5th grade) are from Gyumed, Darlag County, Golok. When both his parents were gathering a special medicine called Yartsa Gunbu, they were caught in a bad storm. It began to hale strongly, at which time both parents were struck and killed by lightning. Then he and his brother became orphans, with no food, clothing, or money and nobody to care for or protect them.
