My name is Tubten Jungney. I was born in Martring. Amidst the turquoise smoke of a nomad's black tent is where my story begins. When I was seven and a half years old my uncle taught me how to read and sing aloud the Tibetan alphabet. When I was young, people told me I was very smart. I took these to be good signs that my future was promising. However, in the winter of 1998 during a severe snowstorm, all of my family's livestock perished, leaving us as a very poor family. I entered Sengdruk Taktse School in 1999. Now I am in eighth grade and I am studying various subjects, and I have gained an understanding of the experiences in this human life that bring happiness and suffering. We need to understand from an early age the hidden meaning of this world.
