Tubten Drolma| Age:17| Home: Padma| Parents: Father

Our names are Jigme Todral and Tubten Drolma. We were born in Takar, Padma County, Golok. When Jigme was 4 and Tubten was 3, our mother passed away from an illness. After our mother's death, our father wanted to do something virtuous so he offered nearly 40 of our family's livestock to the monastery. After this, our father had to borrow from other people to provide food and clothing for us. He didn't have enough money to pay people back, so we become poorer and poorer. Then through fortunate circumstances, we were given permission to come to Sengdruk Taktse School in 1999. Since coming here, we are now in middle school. We have both followed all the rules of our school and been kind to our teachers and fellow students. Tubten Drolma is very good at Chinese, and is also a very talented singer. She is called by the students of this school as the Choka bird. Jigme Todral is very respectful to his elders, he treats his peers with kindness, and he cares for the younger students. He studies very hard, in particular he enjoys writing poetry (Jigme Todral has recently published a book of poetry that is available on this website). He is also a very talented basketball player and excercise enthusiast. These two students set a good example for the other students of the school.
