Trashi Chumso was born in Martod, Qinghai Provence. When she was very young, both her parents died, leaving her as an orphan. She was unable to care for herself, so her grandfather took care of her for seven years. The grandfather then asked Choktrul Kunzang Gyaltsen if she could attend this school, thus she was admitted in 2005.
