Accomplishments

Jigme Trodral and Jigme Dawa were the number 1 and number 3 students in the entire Golok region in 2008. They were the recipients of the Joru Foundation Award for Academic Excellence.
Some of our accomplishments thus far:
- 13 students have been sponsored
- 4 people have joined as members
- Contributions allowed Joru Foundation to pay for all textbooks for grades 1 through 5
- Awarded 4 scholarships to top two graduating male students and top two graduating female students
- Recruited a volunteer English teacher currently teaching at Sengdruk Taktse School for 1 year.
In the near future, some of our goals include:
- Increasing amount of sponsored students
- Increasing amount of members
- Publishing a traditional Tibetan astrological calendar that was created by the students of Sengdruk Taktse school using traditional methods
- Funding the building of a traditional Tibetan Medical College, also known as a “Mentseekhang”
- Installing solar power at the school to reduce electricity costs and raise environmental awareness.
- Bring a graduating student to the United States to study at a college
